Depot event honors Tucumcari’s Frank Turner with museum room
The east room of the Tucumcari railroad depot hosted a book signing for Nick Pappas on Crosses of Iron, while Frank Turner received a plaque and the east room was renamed the Turner Room for his efforts saving the depot, founding the Tucumcari Railroad Museum, and securing a Union Pacific grant.

Arch Hurley approves 1 inch water per acre allocation
Arch Hurley Conservancy District directors approve a 1 inch per acre water allocation after two failed motions. The plan may be revisited at the August meeting as farmers observe proceedings. District data show June deliveries totaling 1,215 acre feet and Conchas Lake releases of 7,710 acre feet since June 3. Weather remains drought affected across New Mexico with only small areas free of drought. The board also selected Scott Northam CPA as auditor for one year at 13,000 dollars plus tax, replacing Dan Austin CPA who will finish the 2023 audit in August.
