On July 17 1974 Tucumcari completed a two game sweep of Friona with a 12 3 road victory securing a state Senior League tournament berth in Las Vegas Eli Dominguez led with three hits in both games and six hits overall while pitching for Tucumcari manager Gene Kreykenbohm The same day Hall of Fame pitcher Dizzy Dean died of a heart attack in Nevada at age 64 and Tucumcari Dairy Queen advertised a 39 cent Super Brazier chili dog for two days
