Grenade found during drug bust on Tucumcari west side
Raul Diaz Villalobos 39 was charged with trafficking a controlled substance in a school zone and possession of an explosive device after a multi agency Jan 23 raid at a West Tucumcari Boulevard motel. A suspected grenade was taken for disposal and evidence included an AR 15 rifle, pistol, fentanyl pills and methamphetamine.

Sonic boom traced to New Mexico air training exercise
Public affairs officials from Cannon and Kirtland Air Force Bases identified a sonic boom over Quay County as the result of an air integration training exercise at Melrose Range on Jan. 19. A B-1B Lancer from Dyess AFB was the likely source. no damage was reported and civilian air speeds over land remain federally restricted.
