The Tucumcari Public Schools Board approved a one year extension for Superintendent Aaron McKinney amid brief executive session. McKinney’s salary is $109,200 per year. Ted Peabody Marine veteran and extension educator profile

Ted Peabody served in the U S Marines and fought in World War II earning a Purple Heart at Okinawa Japan. He studied at Texas Tech and earned a Master’s in Agriculture and Extension Education from New Mexico State University and was named full professor there. He graced Quay County as extension agent for 15 years from 1971 to 1986.

Logan schools begin new year with assembly and class officer elections

Students in Logan schools returned to in person learning as bells rang and doors opened. New superintendent Johnnie Cain and principal Craig Terry spoke at an assembly. Principals and sponsors guided students through class officer elections while parents noted growing children and ongoing preparations. Tucumcari Elementary held a K through fifth pep rally to start the year.

Fair Midway Boosts Quay County Fair Attendance

Brenda Bishop of the Quay County Extension notes the return of the midway boosted attendance at the Quay County Fair weekend with more day and night crowds drawn by Sun Valley Entertainment. Vendors in the exhibit hall praised the turnout as results will be released as compiled.

Rattlers Exhibit and Local Job Fair in Tucumcari

Ornate TMNT display through August 31 at Tucumcari Historical Museum showcases Rattler relics from 1913 to 2002 and highlights extracurricular activities at Tucumcari High School. NM Department of Transportation District 4 hosts a job fair from 12 30 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Tucumcari Convention Center.

Romney Ryan ticket poll stirs mixed public views
