Confession Suppressed in Tucumcari Double Slaying Case

Tenth Judicial District Judge Albert Mitchell ordered removal of an apparent confession by Muziwokuthula Madonda from evidence in the 2011 murders of Gabriel Baca and Bobby Gonzales in Tucumcari. The ruling cites clear rights violations after Madonda requested an attorney, while noting a Holy Bible found during a warranted search may still be used. The court allowed immediate appeals and discussed expedited decisions before the New Mexico Supreme Court. Madonda remains jailed in Roosevelt County Detention Center.
