Special Train Through Princeton for Indiana Officials

A special Democratic editors and Indiana state officials train will pass through Princeton on Thursday evening en route to Evansville for a 5 PM arrival and a later banquet at the Vendome hotel. The reception committee includes George S. Clifford, Charles Frisse, Henry Stockfield, George AW Haynie, Mayor Bosse, Fred W. Lavenstein, Howard Roosa, and John Princeton. The car ride and city tour are planned with a 9 o clock traction car boarding and a 4 o clock pass through Princeton followed by a return at 5 PM.

Claflin Co Bankrupt As Receivers Appointed In New York

Two involuntary bankruptcy suits target H B Claflin Co the world’s largest dry goods house with branches in many cities A friendly suit led to a receiver appointment with Joseph B Martindale and F A Juillard named The firm cites shifted trade centers and rising capital needs affecting profits as the reason for a readjustment plan Also named are Root Dry Goods Co and numerous other stores across Minneapolis Baltimore St Louis Newark and beyond The Associated Merchants Company and the United Dry Goods Company are not borrowers and claim strong finances Notes from the Claflin office say closures are not yet decided and a reorganization plan will be presented as stakeholders stand together

Vanitie Cup Defense Yacht Changes Skipper For Trials

The Vanitie, cup defense yacht, suffered a capsize in a stiff wind as Capt. William B. Dennis resigned. Capt. Harry P. Haff, popular with sailors and owners, takes command for upcoming trial against Resolute off Greenwich on June 23. Dunbar and Vail Identified in Multi-Store Robberies

George Dunbar and Herman Vail, arrested on local robbery charges, were identified as the duo who robbed A P Woods jewelry in Forrest near Frankfort on May 21. They also admitted to stealing from Welborn and Criswell clothing and J C Morrison harness shop, with police recovering part of the loot and holding them at the county jail pending transfer to Jeffersonville reformatory.

White on Trial for His Life Opens Thursday

Child dies after tub scalding in Mount Carmel

In Mount Carmel Illinois on June 24 a two year old girl, daughter of Siegman Rigg, fell into a tub of hot water and died from scalding injuries. The tragedy occurred in the family home and authorities are investigating the incident.
