National Guard to Europe if plans move ahead this autumn

Washington dispatch reports five divisions of national guardsmen totaling about 125000 are planned for deployment to Europe by autumn if staff plans are approved. The plan aims to train briefly in the United States then ship to France, with best guardsmen selected for service behind the lines. It could precede the Pershing division and may include the Second Indiana regiment, company M of Princeton, in fall deployment.

Princeton Knights Reorganize Pythias Lodge With 25 Charter Members

The Princeton Lodge of the Knights of Pythias was reorganized Friday night at Modern Woodmen hall with 25 charter members. The new group, made of former members, plans rapid growth and will meet Tuesdays in Reinhart building with officers largely the same as before.

Fund committee named for Sexton garment factory project

At a Hotel Kidd meeting of factory fund contributors C S Scull T H Riggs and William Rafferty were named as a finance committee to handle the funds. Will Blair was named treasurer. The first payment is due now and must be paid before the 10th of the month. The progress of the garment factory was reported as good.

Gibson county Red Cross chairmen urge Princeton and Gibson county to announce and collect funds for Mattoon and Charleston disaster relief. Major need is money to cover an estimated 4500000 dollars in relief as homeless run into thousands and deaths rise. Death of William F. Knight at 68 in local county

William F. Knight, 68, well known local resident, died Saturday morning at his son Eugene Knight’s home after a five month illness due to complications. Funeral at White Church Sunday at 2 30 p m, Rev. L T Freeland officiating. Survived by daughter Mrs Ella Griffin and three sons Charles E Arthur C and Eugene B Knight. Burial in church cemetery. Knight, born June 11 1849 in Vanderburg County, moved to the county in 1863. Formerly a prominent retired farmer.
