In a hard fought game Friday afternoon the Preston Indians defeated the Burley Bobcats 20 to 14. Preston led early 7 0 Burley answered 7 6 at halftime. Indian passing attack produced the final score in the third quarter as the teams remained evenly matched down the stretch.

Boy's Leg Broken In Hunting Accident
Riley Oliverson slipped on a rock during pine hen hunting with Roderick and Les in a canyon. His lower right leg fractured, the trio carried him to their car, then he was taken to a Smithfield doctor where the leg was splinted. He returned home to use ice packs until swelling subsides for setting.

The hospital board and vocational program officials plan a one year practical nurse training course at the local hospital. It covers 500 hours of classroom and 1200 hours on the job with no instruction charge. Trainees aged 18 to 50 in good health may apply through Supt. W. H. Simmons at the high school. Duane Hansen Faces Reduced Charge in Brother’s Death
Duane Hansen, 27, had second degree murder reduced to involuntary manslaughter after a coroner’s inquest found that Melvin Hansen died from a shotgun blast fired during a domestic dispute at the Hansen family home in Preston. The jury cited Duane as the shooter and he was released on 10,000 bond.
