Ray White Weston Returns to Japan Aboard Minesweeper Kite
Ray White son of Mr and Mrs Richard Lemmon of Weston recently returned to Japan aboard the auxiliary motor minesweeper USS Kite. The Kite conducted final minesweeping in Wonsan harbor before the Korean truce. In Far East since 1949 the ship earned 10 Navy battle stars for Korean service. The Kite is a 136 foot wooden hull ship with a primary mission near enemy beaches to protect larger vessels. It has over 50 mines credited and is part of task force 95.

Special Hospital Bond Vote Carries in Franklin County
Nine hundred seventy three people voted in Franklin County on a special $60 000 bond for Preston hospital expansion and modernization. Lt Cless Hinckley of Fairview led Camp Roberts Calif to runner up in the sixth army area tournament at Fort Ord Aug 22 29.
