The Preston Lumber Co. bid the highest for all Utah Idaho Central Railroad property in the court sale bid at Ogden. The sale covered the station building and grounds near Preston yards. Work began removing power lines and tracks by the Hyman Michaels Co. of Chicago, which bid the contract. Total railroad property bids reached about $30,000 in Logan, with Wilford Baugh top bidder for all Cache county real estate at $175,000 and other bids totaling $155,000.

1947 Franklin County Fair Awards and Highlights
The 1947 Franklin County fair was hailed as the county’s most successful event with extensive displays in all departments. A full list of award winners is being prepared by County Agent Daniel Roberts and will publish after results are tabulated. Dairy calf award went to Raylo Larson of Mink Creek with Garry Croshaw as alternate. 4-H dairy and sewing groups produced strong showings with many blue ribbons. top dress and horse pulling results were announced by committee members and officials.

Mr. and Mrs. George F. Cornish observed their golden wedding anniversary with a Sunday reception at the Franklin home attended by about 160 friends and relatives.
