College of Eastern Idaho Drive Urged for College

A special committee led by Glenn Bingham of Dayton urges county commissioners and area school boards to begin work on forming the College of Eastern Idaho district. The plan would include Oneida Franklin Bear Lake Caribou and parts of Bannock, with about 2700 students and a $47 million assessed valuation. Initiation requires petitions with 1000 signatures and a two thirds election approval, followed by a state board appointment of trustees.

Franklin County Farm Bureau Area and County Meet

The Franklin County Farm Bureau holds its Area and County Meet at Franklin County Courthouse social hall on November 1 at 8 p.m. President Hesy A. Beckster leads the meeting with guest Royal B. Garff from Salt Lake City. Women’s activities are led by Mrs. Ariel B. Meek. Local community meetings were held October 25 in Franklin Recreation Hall and October 28 in Fairview Recreation Hall. Western Director for Farm Bureau Women Mrs. Van Ness Wallentine speaks. Daytonite Oxted meets October 28 at 8 p.m. in the Dayton Church Scout Room. Riverdale Treasureton group meets October 29 at 7:30 p.m. in the Treasureton Ward chapel. Voting delegates and officers are elected at these meetings.

Village elections set for Franklin county boards of sinistées

Franklin county villages will vote on candidates for village boards. Oxford and Dayton select multiple members with five and two seats respectively, Clifton limited to Oxford Clifton church house meeting Friday at 8 pm, with candidates across Franklin county and party tickets in Weston.

Cy Maugudn and R P Olson of the Idaho Department of Health surveyed garbage dumps in Preston and Franklin County as part of a statewide refuse disposal study. Olson warned improper open dumping risks Norway rat infestation, denoting entrenched rats in dumps and near farms, urging locals to curb indifference and prevent further damage.

Preston to vote on three mayoral candidates and council seats

Three candidates for Mayor of Preston appear on Tuesday’s ballot: incumbent Russell Cranney, Mark Hart, and Dr. David Cutler. In the first district council race Ed Bowen and Keith Larsen file. Eldon Larsen and Ekion Larsen noted. Second district includes Lyle Shipley and Rich Hendricks. Polls run noon to 8 pm with north of Oneida Street at 17 North State and south at the American Legion hall. Voters must be registered. availability for registration at city office 8 am to 5 pm and 7 pm to 9 pm. Absentee ballots may be obtained at the city office.
