Mabel Atkinson Wins Idaho Writers League Awards
Dayton author Mabel L. Atkinson, wintering in Salt Lake City, earned two awards in the Idaho Writers League annual state contest. Her radio play The Miracle placed second, and her article Is He a Modern Milton? won first honorable mention at Boise state conference. She also won Midwest Chaparral poets sweepstakes in Lincoln Nebraska for Faith of Our Pioneer Mothers and received two more prizes for best dialogue and best patriotic poems along with two honorable mentions in state and roll call divisions.

Nampa Leader to Share Russia Tour Experiences at Preston Banquet
Julius M. Kleiner of Nampa will report on his farm group tour of Russia during the past summer at the Preston Chamber of Commerce harvest banquet in Oneida stakehouse Thursday evening, November 10. Born in the Russian Ukraine, he studied at the University of Kiev, emigrated to the United States in 1916, and became a citizen in 1922. He and Emma Weinberger married in 1919 and have two sons, Walter and Eugene.
