The Preston Chamber of Commerce announces a fall banquet featuring Julius M. Kleiner of Nampa, touring Russia last summer. The event on Thursday, Nov. 10, at Oneida stakehouse recreation hall will raise funds for the American Legion Memorial Building. Proceeds go to the building fund. tickets available from the chamber and local farm bureau leaders. An estimated 500 guests are expected.

A joint study by the Idaho Fish and Game Department and Utah Fish and Game Department with Utah cooperative Abilidairesearch unit will assess pheasant populations during the seasons. The Idaho 15 day season opens Oct 22 at noon and Utah five day season starts Nov 5. Logan youth Ross Rose Faces Speeding Charge in Preston
Logan county sheriff chased a group of three youths driving at 110 mph through Preston's business district at 11 p.m. Monday. Rulon Elwood Rose, 28, was fined 300 dollars and sentenced to 90 days in jail with 60 suspended by Judge W. Paul Merrill. Two companions, about the same age, were not jailed.

Couple to Observe Golden Wedding in Preston
An open house will honor Mr. and Mrs. P. A. Bergquist on their golden wedding anniversary Sunday from 3 to 4 p m at 451 South 4th West Preston. They were married October 25 1905 in Logan LDS temple. Mrs Bergquist was born in Sweden and came to this state at age four. Six Year Old Son Of Brigham City Couple Die On Farm
Richard James Brown six year old son of Robert J and Vila Rawlings Brown was killed last Thursday on his grandfather Oscar Rawlings farm in Fairview when his head was crushed under a beet truck wheel. He had ridden a beet topper before the accident. His body was found in a field after a short search and tire marks showed the wheel passed over his head. Funeral services were held Monday at 2 p.m. in the Fairview LDS ward chapel with burial in Fairview cemetery by Webb mortuary. Survivors include his parents a sister Susan and his grandparents.

Plans are set for the annual Franklin County district basic training course final session. The overnight event will be at Roy Smiths campground in Riverdale with check in between 5 and 7 p m Friday and wrap up by 10 a m Saturday to allow pheasant hunting season. Six Franklin County Youths Receive Honorable Discharges
Six Franklin county youths completed service in the United States Army and were discharged honorably after their required duty. Lyle Nelson Cole of Preston received the National Defense Service Medal, among others. Jerald George Hobbs of Franklin earned United Nations service and Korean service medals with good conduct. William Dean Egbert of Preston got the National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct and Army Occupation Medal for Germany.
