Christmas Gift Suggestions Day Set in Franklin County

The Franklin County Home Demonstration Council hosts a two day Christmas Gift Suggestions event at the Community Service building of the Franklin County Fair grounds. Demonstrations include Figurine Draping Gold Leafing Gift Wrapping Candy Making with some repeats. Community groups and individuals join to share ideas and display gifts as preparations for Christmas. The event runs Friday 9 am to 7 pm and Saturday 9 am to 4 pm with early building access.

Fair Board Seeks Bids On Building at Fair Grounds

The Franklin County Fair board will open bids on November 1 at 1 30 pm in the courthouse conference room for insulating and finishing the community service building at the fair grounds. The shell was built last year and a kitchen added this summer. Specifications are available from chairman William M. Robinson or secretary Daniel Roberts.

Packers Hurt In Two Car Wreck Sunday

Mr and Mrs Estus Packer both in their seventies were seriously injured in a two car crash on U S 91 near Hawkins Basin road in Idaho. The Peterson car from Pocatello caused front impact. damage totaled 900 and 1100 dollars to the Packers and Peterson respectively.

Grace Man Delivers Genetics Lecture at Medical Meeting

Grace Man presented a seminar paper on Laws of Genetics and Known Inheritance in Dairy Cattle to doctors and professors at a medical meeting led by Dr. Craig Reed. The event focused on genetic principles and practical cattle inheritance.

Recorder Bought For Handicapped

The Preston Kiwanis club purchased an automatic tape recorder for use by handicapped people. It is currently in use by Harvey Henderson at Preston hospital and will be available to other handicapped individuals after his use.

Bond Sales Rise in Franklin and Caribou Counties

Franklin county reached 877 percent of its U S Savings Bonds quota while Caribou county stood at 73.9 percent. Caribou has sold 50959 this year versus 48236 for Franklin, with September sales of 3154 in Franklin and 4695 in Caribou. Quotas remain 69000 for Caribou and 55000 for Franklin.

Preston Merchants Compete in First Costume Daze Event

Preston merchants join with Preston schools for a Crazy Daze costume contest on Friday October 31 with cash prizes for top outfits. Jefferson and Whitney grade students join the parade through town while stores host pumpkin displays and Halloween buys marking the fall shopping season.

Group Plans Night For Candidates

The Preston Jaycees announce a Candidates Night on Oct. 30 at 7 30 p m in Preston high school. V ern Hunt says residents can hear candidates for city office in the Nov 4 election and then question them. Dayton Farm Bureau Elects New Officers and Board

Clifton-Oxford community Farm Bureau members gathered Thursday in Dayton for officer elections. L. Stanley Fuller became county director, replacing Walter Beutler. K. L. Bodrero and George Reding ton were named first and second assistants, succeeding Elmer Perry. Women’s Committee members re elected include Mrs. Walter Beutler, Mrs. H. Glenn Bingham, Mrs. K. L. Bodrero, and Mrs. J. Taylor Cox. A program featured Vaughn Griffeth, Annette Coleman, Genean Housley, and Janette Page, with Walter Beutler as speaker.

Car Wrecked Friday On Way To Preston Game

Three Preston youths escaped serious injury when the car they rode in went out of control on a curve and struck a telephone pole on the way to the Preston Marsh Valley game. Driver Nord Alder and Don Kofoed survived unhurt while Kirt Larsen suffered a head injury and was treated and released after the dash board impact.

School Board Approves Unanimous Zoning Update

Eastside school district board held a special meeting Monday to revise the zoning plan. Dr. Orson Bowler reports the previous plan passed 3-2. changes aimed to achieve unanimity and balance rural and city areas across zones.

Boy Injured By Horse Dragging Incident Details

Ray Baker Bright Jr. nine year old boy suffered a broken cheek bone and loss of finger tip after being dragged by a horse on Saturday. He was kicked in the face during the incident and sustained cuts bruises and a concussion. He is the son of Mr and Mrs Ray B Bright of Preston.

Woman Injured In Accident On Highway 34

Mrs. Merrill Hulse suffered a cut on the nose and a head bump after a Buick ran into a bank on highway 34 at Thatcher hill while avoiding a dog on black ice. Her husband, driver, escaped injury. Mrs. Hulse was taken to a doctor for treatment.

Hale Wrecks Family Car After Slick Bridge Crossing

The Hale family car overturned after hitting a slick section near a bridge on a Friday returning from Soda Springs. Jessye Hale, daughter of Mrs Majorie Hale, was reportedly injured as the vehicle slid and failed to stop before its end.
