Dr. Daryl Chase, president of USAC at Logan, will be guest speaker at the Oneida stake quarterly youth conference Sunday evening October 16 at 8 o'clock in the stake house. The theme is Youth and Its Promise. Chase has a extensive background in education and public speaking and is well known in the area. He began teaching seminary in Preston and served as dean of men at Logan, later becoming president of USAC Cedar City and then president of the Logan State College after President Dixon's resignation.

Hunting accident ends day with death and injuries in Preston
Daniel Duate Sedmoris, 49, of Preston, died after a heart attack while hunting in Franklin basin. Two Montpelier hunters assisted, Alfred Jones, 21, shot in the foot, and his brother Tom 24 helped move him four miles to Cub River canyon. Ray Coburn and others brought the injured to Preston Hospital where Alfred and others were treated for injuries from a horse accident during hunting in Caribou county.

The Soil Conservation Service has installed a rain gauge on the Willow Flat Snow Course as part of a larger network to improve irrigation water forecasts.
