A graveling project on the Preston Treasureton road is to be finished by October 28, contractor Wm Hoopes reports. Gravel has been laid to the ridge three miles NW of Preston with two shifts daily crushing and hauling. About 35 men are employed. A Franklin county delegation will seek oil coating of the road to protect winter traffic. an oil seal could be applied in a week to ten days if action is taken promptly, though full oil mixing may take longer.

Idaho officials announce the migratory bird season opens Friday October 16 and runs to December 23 with bag limits of ten ducks and two Canada geese or six blue geese if no others are taken. Deer season follows October 19 with bucks-only near highway 91 area October 28. Pheasants may be hunted October 24 to November 7 with a limit of three birds daily and at most two hens.
Dr F L Peterson Dies in Washington Funeral Held
Dr F L Peterson dies of a heart attack while en route to visit a patient near Chewelah Washington. He had lived in the Washington community for thirteen years and previously worked at Salt Lake City and Holy Cross hospitals. Survived by widow two daughters two brothers a sister and two grandchildren.

Idaho Draft Moves Climb on 2-C Farm Labor
Colonel Norman B. Adkinson of Idaho selective service says about 2 000 single men employed on Idaho farms classified 2-C will begin receiving draft notices next month after a national order. Idaho's 2-C deferments total 6 885 with 7.7 percent of workers in this category, above the national 2.7 percent. Plans call reducing overall 20 classifications by about 2 000 men and reclassifying within 60 days to meet November and December quotas while eliminating the 3-A group. Single farming men will not be drafted until harvest. In Franklin County an audit shows a 20.85 percent 2-C rate, four times the national average, prompting farm labor appeals.
