VA Insurance Expert to Visit Preston Tuesday
Arthur E. Haworth, regional VA insurance officer, will tour southern Idaho next week and meet veterans in Preston on Tuesday October 17 from 7 p.m. to evening. He will be available for conferences in his hotel room at two local hotels. Haworth aims to address World War I and II government insurance issues and assist with reinstatements and policy conversions for Preston area veterans. Accidental Gunshot Wounds Weston Man
Frank Keller of Weston was rushed by ambulance to the Veterans Hospital in Salt Lake City after an accidental gunshot wound at his Weston service station. The German 8MM pistol fired as he examined it while kneeling, lodging a bullet in his leg and shattering the knee cap. Medical teams operated for five hours and plan further treatment before release.

Ray G. Taylor 40, former Preston youth and businessman, died of a heart attack Friday in a Logan hospital. Born November 21 1909 in Preston, he married Laura Evans in 1939. Survived by widow three daughters his parents and four sisters. Funeral Tuesday at Logan eleventh ward chapel.

Firemen Respond to Three Alarms in Week Near Preston
Preston reports three fire alarms in three days last week. Saturday a hay shed burned at the George Hodges farm southwest of Preston, with about 200 dollars damage. Sunday at 1 10 p.m. a fire started in a straw stack at the Myron Merrill home in Dayton, caused by a five year old, burning straw worth about 20 dollars. A chicken coop with straw and grain was destroyed but nearby structures were saved. overall damage not estimated.

Nelson 80 Dies at Weston Home After Lingering Illness
Hans Christian Nelson 80 died early Thursday at his Weston home after a long illness. Born June 19, 1870 in Weston to Rasmus and Lena Nelson, he married Sarah Maughan in 1905. A lifelong farmer and LDS church member, he served as police officer and village board member, survived by widow, five children, eight grandchildren, two brothers, one sister. funeral Saturday at 2 p.m. in Weston LDS chapel with burial in Weston Cemetery.

Oneida Stake Plans Conference This Week
The Oneida stake schedules a quarterly conference starting Saturday evening with an 8 p.m. leadership meeting in the Preston fourth ward chapel. Sunday sessions at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. in the Preston high school auditorium focus on the lesser priesthood. LeGrande Richards of Salt Lake will speak at all sessions. Music features 16 singing mothers from the stake. The Sunday evening fireside at 8 p.m. in the fourth ward chapel is sponsored by the stake men and Gleaner girls with refreshments by the Mink Creek Glencoe and Glendale wards.
