Hale Wins Commendation and New Mexico Governor Appoints Aide
Captain Lynn Hale of the Marine Corps received high honors for his service in New Mexico where he assisted the Selective Service and Veterans Assistance programs. Governor John J. Dempsey appointed him a colonel on his staff for outstanding duty. Hale, a Preston native, spent two years with the Salt Lake City recruiting office and later in Santa Fe before this recognition.

Franklin County farmers were reminded by County AAA Chairman Wilford Stokes that November 30 is the deadline to file applications for dairy payments on milk or butterfat produced in July August and September. Some producers have not yet filed, mis believing the 5 cent per pound rollback removal by the government affects dairy payments.

In a Victory Loan event at Preston High School on Thursday November 15 director Nola Maughan presented the Minute Man Flag to student body president Ray Oliverson.
