Julie Simmons daughter of Mr and Mrs W H Simmons of Preston won the Idaho junior division of the Make It Yourself With Wool contest at Boise She 16 a Preston High junior represented Idaho at the national contest to be held in Fort Worth Texas in January 1956 She made her wool dress as a 4 H club member with The Woolettes led by Mrs Sherwin Webb Accompanying her were Mrs W H Simmons Mrs Edward Maughan and Mrs Lucretia Maughan Alma Hushkle of Payette won the senior division She is a UIdaho education student It marks Preston’s second straight year with a winner Patricia Jeppson last year won the senior division and national prize trip to Europe

Dayton's oldest resident Cyrus Robbins reaches 82 and honored by family
Dayton's oldest resident Cyrus Robbins turns 82 with a birthday dinner at his home on Saturday. Grandchildren from near and far will attend, and he is grandfather to 29 youngsters and one great granddaughter. A Dayon native since 1918, Robbins was born November 21, 1873 in Willard Utah. He married Sarah Ellen Hurd in 1904 and has seven children still living. He has long served in Latter-day Saints church roles including deacons quorum president and elder’s counselor.

Refunds Near Complete for Mountain States Telephone Subscribers
Mountain States Telephone Co manager Gus L. Mink says refund checks totaling about 2.3 million dollars will be enclosed with Dec 7 bills and reach about 140 000 accounts by Dec 17. Arctic survival course tests aircrew on Greenland icecap
Gordon TM and four fellow airmen spent 52 hours on the icecap with an ice saw shovel and Air Force rations as part of an Arctic survival course near Thule. They built a snow shelter dug a seven foot trench and used snow blocks for shelter and water. The drill simulated bailout from an F 89D Scorpion interceptor and included an air drop from a rescue helicopter for realism.
