Flying saucer days return to Preston in pre Christmas plan
The Preston chamber of commerce invites all firms to join three day flying saucer days next week. About 70 to 80 businesses will advertise specials as airborne saucers carry numbers and firm names. Prizes totaling 500 to 750 dollars will be awarded with no strings. If weather allows, banners will be dropped by airplane at about 1 pm over Preston and surrounding areas.

Owen Gibson and Preston Featured on Idaho Extension Program
Owen Gibson, Preston 4-H chairman, was one of three Ida ho people highlighted at the annual extension conference in Moscow. Son of Dale Roe Killed by Auto in California
Tragedy struck a former Preston couple now living in Oakland California last week when four year old Michael Roe, son of Mr and Mrs Dale Roe, ran into the street and was struck by a car near their home. He died shortly after at a hospital. The Roe family includes Dales father Lewis Roe and former Franklin County Citizen publishers now known as The Preston Citizen. Dale Roe has served as Red Cross water safety director in the Oakland Berkeley area since the war.

Local Youth Dies In Plane Crash Near Pocatello
A private plane en route from Pocatello to Salt Lake City crashed into a hillside 15 miles southeast of Pocatello killing three men. Shirley J Webster 23 of Pocatello son of Preston residents Gene P Armstrong 28 pilot and Paul Shepherd of Pocatello were found in the wreckage. The ship took off Thursday night from Phillipsfield Pocatello and was discovered Friday morning. Weather appeared clear with rough air in Arbon valley noted as possible factor.
