Cpl Curtis R Allen son of Mr and Mrs Harold Allen of Preston arrived in Korea on November 7 after a 17 day voyage. On arrival he noticed a ship named after Preston Medal of Honor winner Pvt Leonard Brostrom. He serves with engineers technical intelligence team drawing captured enemy equipment. In a letter he describes Korea with harsh living conditions and strong odors.

Three members of the Phil West Motor Co were honored by Chrysler for completing the first 12 sessions of the in factory approved servicing program. Certificates were awarded to George Wilcox Leon Manning and Merlin Larsen for a year of participation in the master technicians service plan.
