Franklin county faces a climax as voters prepare to cast ballots next Tuesday amid heated charges and counter charges in a pivotal campaign. Republicans challenge Mark Hart to a public debate with State Senator Marion Jensen set to debate Monday at the courthouse.
The Central school PTA will hold its annual open house social next Monday at 4 p.m. in the Central school building. A panel on parental responsibility to child and teacher will be led by Mrs. Howard Maughan, followed by a group discussion. Officers urge all parents to attend.
State Sen Marion Jensen Republican challenges Mark Hart county Democratic chairman to a debate on issues and candidates next Monday evening in the courthouse. Hart replies that he is not running against Jensen and cites submitting his views in the local paper and countering whispering campaigns and alleged smears.
The final Republican rally before Tuesday's election will be Monday at 8 p.m. in the courthouse basement. Ben Johnson, Preston attorney and GOP prosecuting attorney candidate, will speak on campaign issues affecting voters in the nation Idaho and Franklin County.
West Side high school Dayton selects three act comedy Foot Loose by Bur dette. Cast announced by director DeLam ar Palmer includes Bob Early Blair Henderson Dick Early Waldo Talbot Richard Early Dwight Jensen Jack Milford Gaylord Merrill Buzz Daily Paul Taylor Sanford Welles Arlo Ward and Mrs Forrester with a double cast listing many students led by Mary Early and Arlene Hulet.
West Side Eleven seeks the district title after a perfect regular season 5 straight wins. Aberdeen high school has also won five straight and will challenge at the Spud Bowl turf hosted by Idaho State College in Pocatello. The matchup is rated a tossup with a large West Side delegation expected.
A Friday tour hosted by Utah Power & Light Co drew over twenty men from newspapers radio stations farm groups and farmers. Preston merchants plan three flying saucer days on November 16 17 and 18 with the chamber of commerce sponsoring. Hundreds of saucers bearing Preston business names and numbers will fall from the sky for shoppers to retrieve and present to the matching store for a chance at merchandise prizes valued at 500 to 750 dollars depending on participation. Merchants may still join by calling the chamber.

Preston officials sponsor an ad urging voters to approve house joint resolution No 9 and another amendment on the ballot next Tuesday. The piece warns against voting NO out of ignorance, highlights revenue bonds for water, sewer, and parking projects, and urges informed voting to prevent polluted waterways and failing systems.
It was announced today by T Roy Peterson chairman of the merchants committee of the Preston chamber of commerce that all stores and business concerns in Preston would close Saturday November 11 Armistice Day in accordance with federal regulations.

Principal Reed Brenchley announced Preston high school will stage the Rudolph Friml operetta Rose Marie for 1951. Director Lyle Shipley said the cast will showcase student talent with past operatic experience, and tryouts are set for late December ahead of February performances.
The Preston High School music department announces the annual fall concert set for Friday November 10 at 8 p.m. in the high school auditorium. The program features the orchestra and band directed by Lynn Bright and choir and glee club directed by Lyle Shipley. A 90-voice robed choir of juniors and seniors closes the program. No admission is charged.

Leaders urged voters to back moral candidates and emphasized obedience to commandments, the Word of Wisdom, and dedication to missionary work with reports from missionaries including Nola Davis.

Utah Power and Light brings a 120000-volt Oneida-Montpelier line and a new 130000-volt substation into service linking AP L’s Oneida hydro plant on Bear River to Montpelier. The $375000 project runs 23 miles over Wasatch range with two power sources now available including the Grace hydro plant.
New fire escapes and playground equipment installed at Jefferson and Central schools meet state fire protection standards. Escape doors have push-release bars, cannot be opened from outside, and are designed for rapid exterior egress. Jungle gyms were added by the PTA, with final details continued on page six.

Mr and Mrs Behle sr of Mound Valley celebrate fifty years of marriage with a 2 to 4 p m Saturday reception at their home. They wed November 3 1900 in the Salt Lake LDS temple. Annie Laura Bennett Behle born February 8 1875 in Ground Valley, first white girl born there. He was born January 21 1876 in Waldeck Germany. They have three children Ava Hyrum Thatcher and Willisa Thatcher.
