Blood Donor Unit to Visit Franklin County June 2

Franklin County joins the American Red Cross blood program. The county chapter sponsors the first blood draw June 2 from 2 to 7 pm at the new doctors clinic across from Franklin County Hospital. Eligible donors are 18 to 66, weigh at least 110 pounds, and have not donated in eight weeks.

McClure Critiques Big Government During Preston Visit

Want To Join A Band Summer Meeting At Preston High

An organizational meeting and practice for a community Summer Band will be held in the Preston High School band room on July 9 at 7 30 pm. Eastside band director Mark Wilcox invites all residents to join regardless of age to prepare numbers for a concert at the LDS Church park late July or early August. This marks the area’s first organized community band attempt. County Agricultural Extension Agent Dan Roberts notes weather-related crop impacts with brief damage from frosts but none serious.

Eastside High Band Practice Dates Set for June

Eastside School District band director Mark Wilcox announced practice sessions at the high school for June 5 12 19 and 27 at 6 30 pm The ensemble will march in the Franklin parade on June 21 Lyle Shipley directs this month while Wilcox is out of town Further dates and parade appearances will be announced later.

Preston Man Injured In Collision With Crane Boom

Kim Stanger a 27 year old from Preston was seriously injured Tuesday night when his northbound pickup hit the boom of a crane used for sewer line excavation. The crash occurred on Eighth West Street. Stanger was transported to hospital by Franklin County Ambulance after his vehicle was totaled and hurled about 50 to 60 feet. Investigation was ongoing early Wednesday.

Preston Planning Board to review comprehensive plan

The Preston Planning and Zoning Board will hear a county wide comprehensive planning proposal at its June 10 meeting. The plan moves to a county joint session and a public hearing is set for late June with implementation expected before July 1.
