Fourteen Franklin county 4 H club members and four leaders will travel to Moscow for the University of Idaho short course from June 5 to 11. Scholarships funded by local sponsors cover transport via Montana and western Idaho, plus board and lodging. Sponsors include The Golden Rule, J C Penney, Utah Poultry, Preston Citizen, Franklin County Fair board, and others.

Seats are elevated for clear views and the show features seven bouts plus a battle royal headlined by Lyle Taylor of Dayton versus Tim Kimball of Salt Lake and a heavyweight bout with Dean Palmer of Preston against Bob Baker of Ogden.

Angela Nelson Packer Dies After Extended Illness
Angela Nelson Packer 72 died at a granddaughter's home in Mink Creek after an extended illness. Born January 11 1874 in Oxford she married William Taylor Packer in Logan temple. She had lived in Alexander Idaho and Riverdale area with survivors including son William Melvin Packer three granddaughters and six great grandchildren. Funeral services are set in Riverdale Ward with burial in Riverdale Cemetery under Webb-Hendricks mortuary.

Future Farmers Attend Richmond Show in Two Busloads
Two busloads of Preston Future Farmers with leaders William Craner and Lincoln Orme spent two days at the Richmond Black and White show. They entered a dairy judging contest won by Grace High School and visited Sego Milk Plant to view testing and evaporated milk processing. Two of three pigs donated by Utah Power and Light went to local boys Garry Haworth and Doyle Dinkley.

Charmaids Choir Charms Pocatello Audience Sunday
The Charmaids Choir led by Mrs Elda Carlson drew a large ovation at First Congregational Church in Pocatello on Sunday. They performed twice, 11 am and evening, with piano accompaniment by Mrs Anna Moore and featured pieces with the chancel choir. Arentina Nilsen-Jacobsen 74 died Tuesday at 4 a m at her daughter's home in Fairview Utah of a heart ailment. Born February 1873 in Stegen Norway she married Joachimid Jacobsen in May 1898 and came to the United States in 1906. Surviving are three sons and three daughters including Thorlief Jacobsen of Pocatello Idaho Mrs Ashlaug Jackson of Ogden and Mrs Elly Jensen.

Wallace was chosen president of the Preston Lions Hub at the regular annual election meeting held Wednesday night. He will take office July 1, succeeding Joe Gott. Vaughn Greaves and Keith Larson were named first and second vice presidents. Milford Crabtree will become secretary, with Sterling, Hixson and C.D. Crawford elected directors for two years. About 500 boys and girls from Oneida stake completed thinning 55 acres of beets in five hours under ward leaders and priesthood quorums. Women organized meals at Dayton hall, supporting field crews and awaiting harvest. The 320 acre farm backs welfare efforts with hay grain and peas, with a large fall harvest anticipated.
