Franklin County Rejects Liquor by the Drink in Four Elections
Franklin county voters rejected liquor by the drink in four communities on Tuesday with 847 voting against and 261 for the measure. Franklin and Mink Creek had all against, Preston turnout was light, and Weston favored only six to 43 against. Four contests were decided while Fairview Dayton and Oxford were still to vote on the issue on the 10th and 12th.

Hawaiian Musicians Set for Preston Concert June 17
Thirty Hawaiian musicians singers and dancers from the Oahu LDS stake will perform at Preston High School auditorium on Tuesday evening June 17. The event is sponsored by Oneida stake with committees handling hospitality and entertainment. Fred C. Graham of Salt Lake City coordinates routing. The group arrived in San Francisco May 28 and sails back to Honolulu August 8. Tickets are sold at Hart Music shop with no reserved seats.

Preston independent district voters will decide the year’s tax levy at a special election on June 10 at Jefferson school from 1 to 6 PM. The board set a 175 887.34 budget for the next school year with nine mills for current expenses and one for playgrounds. City oils streets to cut dust and mud in 45 blocks
Over the past ten days about 45 city blocks received an oil and asphalt coating after grading by the maintenance crews. Mayor Ernest Eberhard says the project cost about the same as sprinkling for one summer and will reduce dust and future upkeep. The Olof Nelson construction company applied the mix of 70 percent cut-back oil and 30 percent asphalt.
