Six Preston Chamber of Commerce businessmen and County Assessor Marlow Funk joined Idaho merchants in Boise to oppose the new merchandise assessment program. Burglars pried a rear window of the Palmer Implement Company on North State Street and escaped with merchandise valued at 1500 to 2000 dollars. They took Navajo saddle blankets bridles spurs bits tools eight saddles and a typewriter after a fire at City Coal and Feed nearby around 1130 Tuesday night. Police investigate but left no trail.

Small Child Injured When Hit By Auto
A four year old child, son of Mr and Mrs Harold Conlin, was injured during an automobile accident Tuesday evening at 7 40 o clock. The child ran into the path of a northbound car driven by N J Chatterton of Mapleton as he turned from the highway onto second east and third south streets. Sheriff Lee Hansen reported the driver said dust from a southbound car hid the child until a few feet away. Chatterton swerved the car to avoid the collision.

Fire destroys Hobbs opera house in Preston history landmark
A late night blaze leveled the Hobbs opera house at Second South and Main in Preston. The Friends of the Hobbs building were no longer able to save it, with losses totaling about 5000 including machinery and a delivery truck. The fire, possibly caused by combustion per Dr. Goff, recalled social and cultural gatherings from the area’s pioneer days and is noted as a complete loss.

Workmen began razing the 1900 two story brick Sol Hale residence at 51 West Oneida in Preston to clear land for a Modern Farm Equipment company building. G W McCune Jr and Earl Nelson own the property and plans call for a 50 by 80 foot cinder block and brick structure designed by Allis Chalmers.
