Reclamation Men Confer On Slide North of Preston

Idaho reconciliation planners and irrigation officials met to assess a slide threatening the Preston Riverdale Mink Creek canal, which serves 3600 acres. The latest slide shifted land into the Bear River bed, damaged the canal tunnel, and endangered water supplies for about 200 stockholders. temporary fixes may fail this season and a repeat in 1945 caused about 40000 dollars in losses.

4-H Scholarships Awarded by Preston Firms

Scholarships offered by two Preston firms for Moscow short course this summer were announced by County Agent Daniel Roberts. Sponsored by the 3.7 C. Penney company and the Golden Rule store, the scholarships will go to 4-H club members who made commendable records during last year’s activities.

Quarter Breed Stallion Killed by Bullet Near Preston

Sheriff Lee Hansen investigates the death of a recently purchased Quarter Breed Stallion tied to a telephone pole along the old Riverdale road about 2.32 miles north of Preston. The horse, unloaded from a trailer, was shot through the forehead, likely by a .22 rifle, while unattended for about 30 minutes. the animal was insured for about 1500 dollars.

Worley Cup Event Scheduled Tonight at High School Auditorium

Clarence Goodwin and his wife with a one year old child were treated after a two car crash near the Winder service station eight miles north of Preston on Highway 91. Cliff B. Davis of Franklin County, 39, longtime pilot tester, set a world record by looping an airplane 212 times in Oakland California. His feat surpasses Tex Rankin's 130 loop record and follows a career including military flight training and a near fatal Florida crash.
