Bennett Cup Music Contest Set at Preston High School

The Bennett Cup music contest will be held May 2 at 8 p.m. in the Preston High School auditorium with 14 students competing. Judge will be Clyde Carraway, and past winners are listed. Admission is free. A second item notes Seaman Brent L. Richardson aboard USS Douglas H. Fox serving off Vietnam with 22 gunfire support missions as of March 4.

Clean-up Week Underway in Preston Through Saturday

Preston continues cleanup week with curbside trash and debris collection. City engineer Albert Jensen says crews will survey the city and collect leftovers over the remaining three days. Residents may leave addresses at the city office if any spots are missed.

Amalgamated Sugar Reveals New Piler Beet Strain

Amalgamated Sugar Company announces major improvements in Lewiston beet receiving facilities for fall harvest. Harry A Elcock says the mono germ hybrid sugar beet, grown in Cache Valley and southeastern Idaho, could yield up to two tons per acre and features better disease resistance and top curry resistance. A new automated seed plant at Burley, Idaho will supply seed for 1969 plantings.

Eastside Students Stage Spring Music Festival

The first annual Southeastern Idaho Quality Holstein Dairy Sale is set for May 10 at the Franklin County Fairgrounds in Preston. West Side School District Plans Summer Kindergarten

The West Side School District will run a five to six week kindergarten after July 1 1969 for eligible six year olds. Two classes will be held at Clifton Elementary and Weston. teachers are regular first grade staff Ella Kent and Ione Dalley. Sessions run Tuesday through Friday 8 00 to 10 30 with transportation responsibility on parents.

Girls Chorus To Try For Ted Mack Show

The Mormoniers under Janet S Jensen won first place on Eugene Jelesnik's Talent Show and advance to Ted Mack semi finals in Salt Lake City after competing at KSL studios April 18. They thank supporters from the Preston area and the Winder ward reunion is set for Saturday at the Winder ward chapel with a 1 p.m. dinner.

BYU Education Week Returns to Preston June 12 14

BYU Education Week resumes in Preston from June 12 to 14 with participants from Smithfield Lewiston Richmond Malad and Preston areas. A joint faculty from Ricks College and Brigham Young University will address finances art science grooming and dance among others with stake and ward workers meeting May 10. Ticket options include 12 for families 8 for couples 5 for individuals and 2 50 for single day, under Franklin Stake sponsorship led by President W Dean Palmer.
