Winder Lass Crowned Miss Franklin County in Pageant
Charlene Neilsen of Winder became Miss Franklin County 1968 at Preston High School event held Saturday night. JaNeil Westover and Vicki Evans won first and second runners up while MarJean Rawlings was named Miss Congeniality. Charlene will compete in the Miss Idaho Pageant in June. talent included a Ragtime Cowboy Joe dance and a piano solo by JaNeil.

Preston High to Present April 30 Instrumental Recital
The Preston High School music department hosts an instrumental solo and ensemble recital on April 30 at 8 p.m. in the high school auditorium directed by James Cox. Local Gem and Mineral Show Draws Franklin County Rockhounds
At Logan Senior High School gym, the annual Gem and Mineral show runs April 26 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and April 27 from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Roy Sorensen Mark Checketts Lester Lowe and Bart Hill are among the five Franklin County rockhounds scheduled to participate. Intermountain area rockhounds join the free public event.

DHIA Names Officers Re elected Head Haworth Leads Dairy Group
Horace Haworth of Franklin was re elected head of the Franklin County Dairy Herd Improvement Association at the annual meeting on April 4 at the Franklin county courthouse. Officers named with him include Lyle Rich Gene Hawkes Cecil Foster and John LeFevre with Daniel Jw serving as secretary and Ronald Stowell remaining supervisor. The annual report credited 13 dairymen and 768 cows with an average 59 cows per herd and 12 802 pounds of milk per cow, 394 fat test and 500 pounds butterfat per cow.

Weber State College band performs in Preston High School auditorium starting 8 pm on April 2 to raise funds for new uniforms for the Preston High School band. The 60 member group plays Enigma Variations, Serenade from Symphonic Songs for Band, Short Ballet, Pines of Rome movements, Resphighi, and Overture in B Flat. Eastside school board rehired principals for all but one school on Tuesday and proposed a new salary schedule boosting base pay for a bachelor’s degree from 5100 to 5600 and the top master’s degree with 12 years’ experience to 8255. Phillip Geddes led the field as high man. teammates Ross Lyon and Forrest Christensen both earned second high.
