Mayor Rulon Dunn announced a reorganized commission to plan and supervise Preston’s new park and recreation program. Ronald Allen resigned as chairman due to time away. W Paul Merrill’s term expired. Three West Side high school girls Phyllis Moore Eleanor Jee and Francis Atkinson received a letter from the White House reply by the assistant to the president after they watched President Eisenhower on television. Preston Indians, perennial bridesmaids, were upset 42 to 30 by Idaho Falls Tigers in the state Class A final. Jorgensen, Stone and Lockyear sparked the Tigers who led 22-15 at halftime. Preston, undefeated entering the finals, earned two all-state selections DeLyle Condie and Ivan Davis while Idaho Falls had Joe Lockyear and Jerry Jorgensen named.

Jennie Ovedia Lorntzen Boyle, 69, of 30 East First South Street, Preston, died Monday night in a Pocatello hospital from a heart ailment caused by a fall that broke her hip. She was born January 10, 1884, in Logan. Survived by husband Thomas L. Boyle, one son, four daughters, nine grandchildren, and a sister. Funeral Friday at 2 p.m. in Franklin stakehouse with burial in Logan cemetery.

Ernest E. Keller Dies in Idaho Falls at 70
Ernest E Keller, 70, died at the LDS hospital in Idaho Falls Tuesday evening. A Mink Creek native born Aug 13 1882 he was the last surviving member of 14 siblings. Survivors include his widow Margaret Croft Keller and five children with three half brothers and three half sisters. Funeral services set for Saturday at 2 p.m. in the Iona LDS chapel.
