A Utah snow survey along the Tresten district shows nine one time average readings lower than five-year and AS-year averages. Levy notes 1952 water content at 21.3 percent with 92.1 inches snowfall versus long term averages of 28.9 and 78.9 inches. The survey, conducted by J G Kernward Stan Fredrickson and B Hann, uses precise marked courses and hand‐taken samples to predict runoff.

Preston man earns Bronze Star for Korea heroism
Lt. Boyd T. Whittle of Preston receives the Bronze Star Medal from Maj. Gen. E K. Wright for valor near Yondon on December 2, 1951 during action as part of the 7th Infantry Division. He saved a wounded enemy soldier from a rock cave, then helped move the unexploded shell away from the trapped man. Whittle, a 1939 Preston High School graduate and livestock specialist, later served in Tokyo and Idaho before joining the University of Maryland extension program.

Mrs. Rose Hawkes Gibbons Hawkes 90 died Friday at a daughter's home in Wendell due to age. Born June 21 1862 in Bath Somerset England she came to America in 1868 with her family and settled in Ogden before moving to Preston. She married William A. Gibbons in 1889 and later Heber Hawkes in 1929. Surviving are five children twenty seven grandchildren and many great grandchildren. Services were held Monday in Preston with burial in Preston cemetery.
