All 153 enumerator positions for the Pocatello census district have been filled after tests. Training for enumerators begins March 27 under Helen G. Sharpe, with 14 crew readers supervising about 20 enumerators each. More than 600 applications were filed for the decennial census in Idaho.
The Preston high school marching corps presents its annual fashion show next Wednesday at 1 pm in the high school auditorium. The event, announced by Shirley Robinson, features outfits from Mereda's Vogue Greaves Style Shop Golden Rule Foss Clothing and Block's with 140 costumes.
Weller Boweell district supervisor announces a local census committee to aid in accurate population enumeration this April. Members include Hollingsworth Smith Beazley Larsen Dunn Elwell and others. similar efforts expand nationwide as in 1940 decennial success.
Preston and West Side high school gridiron stars will join the Idaho Alumni Association to view a full length color film of the University of Idaho versus Oregon football game from last fall. The show starts at 1:30 p.m. in the Franklin County courthouse basement, with George Green and James Lyle attending to present the film for guests invited by Daniel Roberts, local alumnus.

Melvin Westerberg manager of the local poultry plant said 1943 certificates of interest held by members of the Utah Poultry and Farmers Co op will be redeemed if brought to the local plant office. He announced $140,000 worth of certificates will be redeemed and the plant will close this Saturday at noon due to the convention in Salt Lake City.
E Remington Davenport a prominent candy maker and teacher from Portland Oregon arrived in Preston to conduct two candy making classes at the Isis theater. The sessions at 2 pm and 7 30 pm are free to women of Preston and nearby areas invited by The Preston Citizen and Intermountain Theaters.
A local drive to fund youth programs is outlined this week at the courthouse. District chairmen Owen Benes and four district leaders coordinate efforts to invest in character building through the Boy Scouts of America.
Central School students rehearse for the annual operetta The Magic Beanstalk edited by Ky N Mitchell Hubrich with music by Carol Christopher. Cast includes Captain Kidd Robin Hood Gypsy Ann and Henrietta. Public performance scheduled Friday evening March 31 at Preston High School. Curtains at 8:00 PM.

Four girls from the Preston chapter join state fellows and officers at the statewide FHA convention in Boise. Ada Fellow, state secretary, and president of the peat chapter, Nor Mee coe, are among those helping preside. The convention aims to strengthen the Idaho FHA by better understanding the work and expanding leadership opportunities. (Continued on page 4)
Franklin County announces cancer awareness captains for homes and business districts. Executive officers include Dravid As Cutler medical director and Mrs Russell Crockett county commander with Mrs Ray Bright program chairman and others handling campaigns, publicity, and school visual aids. The drive seeks funds around 15 cents per person, up $200 from last year, with continued countywide programs led by Mrs Bright.
The Oneida stake will begin its quarterly conference Saturday evening at 8 p.m. in the Fourth Ward Chapel with a leadership meeting. General church authorities will attend, including Matthew Cowley, a council member. Professor Whitney Smith, nephew of President George Albert Smith, will speak as a guest at the concluding session Sunday at 8 p.m. in the Fourth Ward Chapel. Sessions Sunday begin at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. in the High Valley Auditorium.
A local insulation firm opened a new Preston branch on South Suatesstreet. Roy Hatcher, a World War II Navy veteran, now oversees sales and operations. He is married to Twila Olsen of Preston and they have one child.
Cattlemen convene to grade bulls for a cooperative improvement program begun in Garibou county and expanding across Idaho. Meek notes Adal leads the west in this effort as bulls are visited at Swant Lake and graded by type.
The Preston business district hosts a lively Spring Opening event with about 100 merchants offering prizes. Approximately 48 awards remain unclaimed at various shops including Foss Clothing, Palmer Shoe, Paul’s Cafe, and more, with officials planning a similar promotion next month.
The Franklin County school basket teams begin a three day single elimination tournament at Clifton gym this afternoon at 1 80. Weston and Mink Creek start 1 30 today with Wind er Fairview at 2 30. Dayton Tang les face Preston and Franklin Whitney at 7 and 8 oclock. Winners advance tomorrow while a consolation bracket exists for early losers. Winder defeated Riverdale to claim the eighth seed.
Chief Groves cited police guidance after a conference with Mrs. Roland Sharpe crew leader, urging housewives to report any person claiming to be a census taker who cannot show official credentials. Impersonating a federal officer carries penal action, Sharpe said, noting enumerators will carry official census forms and identification cards.

The Indians defeated Rupert and Jerome to win the Idaho class A consolation basketball title at Boise. Preston led with 16 points followed by Merrill 13 and Petiton 11 as Jerome was edged 39 31 in a hard fought final.
