Census enumerators filled in Pocatello district

All 153 enumerator positions for the Pocatello census district have been filled after tests. Training for enumerators begins March 27 under Helen G. Sharpe, with 14 crew readers supervising about 20 enumerators each. More than 600 applications were filed for the decennial census in Idaho.

The Preston high school marching corps presents its annual fashion show next Wednesday at 1 pm in the high school auditorium. The event, announced by Shirley Robinson, features outfits from Mereda's Vogue Greaves Style Shop Golden Rule Foss Clothing and Block's with 140 costumes.

Idaho Alumni to Screen Idaho-Oregon Football Film

Preston and West Side high school gridiron stars will join the Idaho Alumni Association to view a full length color film of the University of Idaho versus Oregon football game from last fall. The show starts at 1:30 p.m. in the Franklin County courthouse basement, with George Green and James Lyle attending to present the film for guests invited by Daniel Roberts, local alumnus.

Poultry Association Announces Certificate Redemption

Melvin Westerberg manager of the local poultry plant said 1943 certificates of interest held by members of the Utah Poultry and Farmers Co op will be redeemed if brought to the local plant office. He announced $140,000 worth of certificates will be redeemed and the plant will close this Saturday at noon due to the convention in Salt Lake City.

Candy making classes announced in Preston by Davenport

E Remington Davenport a prominent candy maker and teacher from Portland Oregon arrived in Preston to conduct two candy making classes at the Isis theater. The sessions at 2 pm and 7 30 pm are free to women of Preston and nearby areas invited by The Preston Citizen and Intermountain Theaters.

Leaders to Attend Idaho FHA Convention in Boise

Community Captains Named to canvass Franklin County

Franklin County announces cancer awareness captains for homes and business districts. Executive officers include Dravid As Cutler medical director and Mrs Russell Crockett county commander with Mrs Ray Bright program chairman and others handling campaigns, publicity, and school visual aids. Stake Conference Opens Saturday in Oneida Stake

The Oneida stake will begin its quarterly conference Saturday evening at 8 p.m. in the Fourth Ward Chapel with a leadership meeting. General church authorities will attend, including Matthew Cowley, a council member. Police warn of census imposters in Franklin County

Chief Groves cited police guidance after a conference with Mrs. Roland Sharpe crew leader, urging housewives to report any person claiming to be a census taker who cannot show official credentials. Impersonating a federal officer carries penal action, Sharpe said, noting enumerators will carry official census forms and identification cards.

Indians Triumph In Idaho Consolation Title Race

The Indians defeated Rupert and Jerome to win the Idaho class A consolation basketball title at Boise. Preston led with 16 points followed by Merrill 13 and Petiton 11 as Jerome was edged 39 31 in a hard fought final.
