Preston merchants sponsor $1500 in prizes for spring opening

Approximately $1500 in prizes and valuable gift merchandise will be given away Saturday afternoon as part of the Preston merchants spring opening. Merchants from bakeries to jewelry stores and auto dealers participate under the chamber of commerce. Prizes include toasters radios dinners car services and more. draws begin at 2 p.m. and prizes are on display in store windows.

Idaho Farm Bureau District Meets in Southeast Idaho

Representatives from nine southeastern Idaho counties convene Saturday at a district meeting of the Idaho Farm Bureau federation in the county courthouse basement. Mayor Eberhard of Preston will welcome attendees as Cyril Lau speaks, and a Preston high school quartet provides music.

Welcome Home Party for Ella Hull

Miss Ella Hull returns from a mission in Hawaii and will be honored at a welcome home party this Saturday in the Whitney gymnasium. A program starts at 8 p.m. followed by a dance. Polio Committee Elects Wallace as Chair in Franklin County

The Franklin county Polio Committee elected George O Wallace as chairman for the past three years retirement notes from Mr. Larson. L M Bright Linrose was elected vice chairman Mrs Henry Hatch Oxford secretary and Mrs Emma Davis treasurer. Mrs Orval Bowles Fairview re elected ladies chairman and Mrs Myrl Workman Treasureton named to assist in epidemics. Davis reported 1949 activities including 900 dollars to the national fund 300 to the emergency center at St. Anthony Mercy Hospital and 87 Idaho cases treated. the chapter remains financially sound.

March Hog Pool Results for Franklin County Livestock

The Franklin County Livestock Marketing Association held a hog pool last Thursday shipping 171 hogs to Archie McFarland in Salt Lake City. Of the hogs 130 were choice and sold for 17.85 ent, totaling 4 964. Combined weight reached 99 490 pounds and the pool total was 8 741 31 dollars. The new pool is planned for next Wednesday with Saturday as the last listing day.
