The Citizen asks locals to send their own mail by forwarding read copies to servicemen and friends, hoping to avoid rationing and preserve overseas subscriptions. It emphasizes not denying local subscriptions and explains a special wrapper allows overseas mailing. It urges double reading through mail to soldiers and former residents in the states.
Milford J. Vaught, chairman of the Idaho State AAA committee, says 1945 milk production payments will be quarterly, covering January through March with a single payout in April and May. Rates are 60 cents per hundredweight in Southern Idaho, 70 cents in Northern Idaho, and 10 cents per pound butterfat statewide.
Idaho will send 971 men this month for induction and 1706 others for pre induction exams as Lt. Col. Norman Akwison notes March calls are below January but above February. Most inductees are aged 26 to 29 with younger volunteers also included. 839 men to Fort Douglas Utah March 15 to 20 from Boise and Pocatello boards. Franklin county lists 22 men with induction March 15 and pre induction March 17 for 25 men.
