Annexation Bill Clears Houses for Oxford Cleveland Thatcher Vote
Residents of Oxford Cleveland and Thatcher would vote in November 1946 on joining Franklin county if Gov Gossett signs House Bill 161. The bill expands boundaries from Bear Lake to Franklin County and includes Thatcher Cleveland areas and Oxford toward Oneida County with roughly 18 square miles. The measure faced little opposition and was amended to omit Swan Lake from the plan.

Preston High to Stage Opera Lelaware Next Friday
The Preston High School presents the annual three act school opera Lelaware on Friday March 16 at 8 15 p m in the school auditorium. The production blends Niagara Indian and white characters with solos duets and choruses. Tickets 60 cents including tax are on sale at the bookstore or from Bruce Wallace. Clint Hendricks remembered at Idaho cafe owner funeral
Clinton Hendricks 36, owner of Clint's Cafe, died Wednesday after a brief illness from pneumonia following an emergency ulcer operation. He lived in Preston and previously ran cafes in Idaho Falls and St. Anthony. Survived by wife Delpha, son Larry J., mother Retta Wicklund, and brothers Verl and Andrew. Funeral at Fourth Ward Chapel Monday 2 p.m. with interment at Lyman Archer, Idaho. Body at Hendricks Mortuary prior to services.

Snowfall over the Bear River watershed raised the water outlook for irrigation this season. Snow surveys on Mount Logan show water content around 9.5 to 16.4 inches at 7000 to 9000 feet, now about 74 percent of the 20 year average. Port Adds 300 Mile Passenger Service With New Plane

Memorial services for Merchant Marine Jared H. Larsen will be held in the Preston First ward chapel Monday evening March 12 at 8:00 with Bishop Ernest Eberhard in charge. Larsen, son of Mrs. Mary A. Larsen of 463 South State street, was reported killed at sea December 28, 1944 in the South Pacific, per U S Coast Guard. Previously he was reported missing.

Specialist urges Franklin county to plan gardens this year
E R Bennett horticulturist and victory garden specialist told city and farm families in Franklin county to start planning the family garden to supplement home food supplies. He warned against oversized plots and urged planting only what is needed and liked as labor limits this year.
