Franklin county jamboree set for March 14 at Preston High
The annual Franklin county fish and game jamboree will be held Saturday March 14 at Preston High School gym. The event runs 7:30 to 10 p m with dancing a carnival and wildlife film to follow. Membership is 1.50 for admission and includes a year in the local fish and game association chaired this year by A L Snowy Stocks. Elections will select new officers for the coming year. Local officers invite all to attend the dinner dancing and games lasting into the evening.

Indians Lose Out In Preston District Tourney
Preston High Indians were eliminated from the district tournament after two losses at Preston last week. Malad defeated Preston 66 46 to end their run, with Ralph Hanson scoring 27 for Preston. Earlier Pocatello beat Montpelier 48 47 in a thriller as Duane Sims led Pocatello with 21 points.

Stephen Meek and Brent Gamble passed the district sitting committee to qualify for the state farmer degree. If they advance at Boise on March 27 they will join the top two percent of Idaho FFA members. Meek, a former graduate, helps run a purebred Hereford ranch with his father. Gamble, Preston FFA president, was on Idaho’s winning judging team at Waterloo Iowa earning a gold medal.

Wallace Olsen Former Official Dies After Heart Attack
Wallace Hans Olsen 77 died at home Wednesday from a heart attack. Born March 19, 1884 in Franklin to Hans and Annetta Peter son Olsen, he married Manila Cottle. A longtime church and civic leader, he served in Franklin Mutual presidency, Sunday school, elders quorum, and nine years in the bishopric. He held county commissioner terms, a state Legislature seat, and county school board service. Survivors include wife Manila, two sons Wallace Olsen Jr and Max Olsen, daughter Mrs Harold Bradford, ten grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, and siblings Frank Olsen Lucils Doney Rose Hendricks and Rhoda Neeley. Funeral Saturday at 1 pm in Franklin ward chapel. viewing Friday eve and Saturday morning. burial in Franklin cemetery.
