Coburn Trial Postponed to March 4 in Franklin Court
The negligent homicide trial of Max J. Coburn, set for February 24, is rescheduled to March 4 at 2 p.m. in the Franklin County courthouse. The delay, to accommodate illness of an attorney, required jurors to be recalled and cost the county $194 for their service.

Denzil I Petterborg a Preston native has been promoted from assistant vice president to vice president at First Security Bank George S Eccles president announced. He works in the mortgage and real estate department and will office at Main and Fourth South Streets. He joined the bank in 1941 and has served as assistant manager of the mortgage department at Exchange Place and as assistant vice president since 1955. He is a former Preston Lion’s Club officer and ex officio auditor for Franklin County and a ward clerk for the LDS Church. He and his wife Ruth Walis reside at 540 East First South Street.

Idaho Soil District Receives Surplus Equipment
Idaho soil conservation districts have received 321000 in surplus military gear over two years. Senator Henry Dworshak said the equipment stays with bona fide district representatives and cannot be sold to individuals. The program uses 12 million worth of excess gear nationwide, aiding soil conservation. The Franklin district received 28976 in equipment, mostly heavy trucks and caterpillar tractors.

Derrymen County Dairy Association to Meet at Courthouse
The Derrymen County dairy group will hold its annual meeting Friday February 27 at 2 PM in the courthouse basement with Eugene Paskins as chairman. The association reports its largest cow test herd, new January unit started under Nephi Chase, and added milk meters for pipeline farmers. Officers will be elected for 1959, and a 1958 year report will be presented by Supervisor Ira L. Kennington with a financial report by the treasurer. G C Anderson will discuss profitable home grown feeds. All Franklin County dairymen are invited to join the improvement program. A follow up session is planned February 28 at 1:30 PM at Darrell LeFevre farm.
