Preston Jaycees prepare for Independence Day with many events at the city park and rodeo grounds. A 10:30 p.m. dance kicks off the weeklong celebration with contests, parades, races, greased pig and pole events. Prizes total 250 dollars plus a Chevrolet car in the afternoon. Entries for jalopy and scooter races are urged with prizes for all winners.

Tremonton Man Linked to Widespread Thefts in Intercounty Probe
Tremonton resident Arthur LeRoursen, 43, is identified as the suspect in a series of thefts across Franklin Oneida Cache and Box Elder counties. Harness stolen from the L. W. Merrill ranch at Weston was recovered in Salt Lake City, along with tools from Weston ranches Owen Maughan and T. C. Olsen. Grain from the Merrill and John Sparrow ranches was also traced and recovered after a lengthy investigation by sheriff and county officials.

Swimming Schedule Promoted by Groups for Red Cross Lessons
A schedule of Red Cross swimming instruction for boys and girls in various age groups was announced by supervisor Bob Bunker. Child Carol Campbell Dies of Heart Failure
Carol Campbell four and a half, daughter of Keith G. and Crista Christiansen Campbell, died Tuesday morning after a six week illness. Born October 9 1942 in Preston, she is survived by her parents a brother Gordon a sister Dianne and grandmother Nora Christiansen of Downey. Funeral services were held in the first ward chapel with Bishop Ernest Eberhard in charge. Burial followed at Preston Cemetery by Richards and Sons mortuary.

Stockholders of the Preston Whitney Irrigation Co vote Saturday at 1 p m on building a new reservoir at Lamont east of Preston.
