The Centennial festival dates moved from July 2 3 to July 15 16 this year announced by mutual organization presidents from Oneida and Franklin stakes acting as co chairmen. The pageant will show the localitys growth from early settlement to today with elaborate plans and many Daughters of Utah Pioneers involved.

Red Cross Swimming Sets Start Date and Registration
Red Cross swimming begins next Monday for youths ages 8 to 16. A registration blank must be signed and returned by Saturday. Blanks available at Preston High School office Mel’s Prescription Drug Handy's Service Franklin or from Bob Bunker supervisor. Pool fee is 20 cents per swim and participants provide their own swim suit and towel. Transportation and instruction provided by Preston Red Cross chapter.

Hog Pool Nets Ten Thousand Dollars In County Hog Sale
Swift and Company of Portland was the high bidder for Fra county hogs on June 11.172 animals weighed 44 650 pounds and brought 10 286 dollars to participating farmers. The next pool is June 25 and farmers are urged to list hogs at the county agent office in the courthouse. Farmers should have hogs at the loading chutes early to meet the stock train schedule.

A 31 member Hawaii program performed Tuesday night in the Preston high school auditorium to an eager crowd. Franklin county residents will see the canning center start operations Friday June 27 to handle early peas and expand as demand grows. Home Editor Works Near Julesburg Tornado Damage
Don Smith editor of THE CITI ZEN and Mrs Smith and son returned Wednesday from Julesburg Colorado where a Friday tornado heavily damaged the editor's mother's home. The storm tore off the roof damaged walls broke windows and debris fell around her but she was unhurt. Bricks and debris collapsed the garage as if hit by an atomic bomb. About 4 score homes and several business buildings were destroyed or badly damaged though no serious injuries were reported in the town.

Casperson Brothers Visit from Alaska to Preston
Carl Casperson from Juneau works as a cook at the Imperial cafe while Bob Casperson, a mechanic in Fairbanks, travels with him to Preston. They flew via United Air Lines with a 23 hour trip including a Seattle stopover. Bob returned to Fairbanks on Sunday. Carl plans to stay a few more days.
