Idaho Day Activities Outlined For Saturday
Franklin plans Idaho Day with a 6 am sunrise flag-raising by the Franklin Ward Boy Scouts and a 6:30 pm pioneer day dutch oven dinner at Franklin Park. Dinner costs 2 for adults and 1 for children under 12, with Max Richards and Larry Bradford in charge. An Entertainment Bureau of Utah State University will provide music, and Vic Dunkley notes a program of novelty sports from 8 pm onward directed by Val Dean Durrant. The Pioneer Relic Hall will be open all day, and two softball games are set for 2 pm at the Franklin Park diamond.

Engineer Assigned To Work On Study On Preston Beach Irrigation
Keith Hessing of the State Department of Water Resources will handle feasibility and preliminary engineering for the Preston beach gravity flow irrigation system. The work follows a Wednesday meeting with Bill Gossett and the Bear River RDC staff, with a four member local volunteer committee to study land area and water supply.

Preston duo places fifth in National Plymouth contest
Wade Esplin and Michael Oliverson, both Preston students, finish fifth representing Idaho in Atlanta National Plymouth Trouble Shooting Contest. They missed one minor defect, won scholarships and prize money, and will join 78 Preston peers in Cincinnati for VICA contests. Instructor George Wilcox calls the result the highest Preston High finish. Oliverson also won the state VICA title and advances to the skill portion while teammates enter opening and closing ceremonies.

Car Cycle Accident Injures Preston Youth
Carl Fredrickson 15 son of Deputy Sheriff and Mrs Callan Fredrickson was seriously injured in a cycle car crash on US 91 south of Preston. He drove a 1974 Suzuki motorcycle totaled in the wreck and was transported to Logan hospital in serious condition with multiple injuries. Sarah Bambrough 81 was cited for failure to yield.
