Sharron Titensor Crowned Miss Franklin County 1977

Sharron Titensor aged 18 won Miss Franklin County 1977 at a Lions Club pageant before about 650 fans. She receives a 200 scholarship plus 50 talent award and will attend the Miss Idaho pageant in 1978 as Franklin County’s representative along with Heidi Hale and RaNae Petersen.

Larry Andersen Named Preston High Hoop Coach

Larry Andersen 25 a former coach at Wayne County High in Utah is chosen to lead Preston High School basketball replacing Larry Matthews who resigned after an 8-16 season. Andersen an Utah State University graduate will move to Preston July first and also coach football and teach history and physical education. He beat 30 to 35 candidates and is son of former coach LaDell Andersen.

Preston Rodeo Queen Contest Set For Saturday

Ten to twelve Franklin County contestants are expected at the Preston Rodeo Arena for the : Preston Rodeo Queen contest part of the 42nd annual Famous Preston Night Rodeo on July 28 to 30. The event starts at 8 30 p m with judging weighted 60 percent horsemanship 20 percent horse and 20 percent personality. Contestants compete to represent the rodeo in area events and parades and must sign up by 6 p m Saturday. Entry blanks available at J D s Chevron Preston. Winners receive a trophy and turquoise jewelry by Wendell Smith.

Pool Proposal and Budget Work Tackled by Board

Franklin County commissioners discussed a proposed new pool with a kiddie pool estimated at 100 000 to 500 000, depending on size and whether it is covered. A recreation district plan would require 51 percent voter approval and could levy three mills or bond up to 56 000 yearly, but tax concerns may delay passage this year. The plan also notes potential government grants if district status is formed.

Weekend Community Schedule Highlights
