1972 Wheat Program Set At 83 Percent Set Aside
Franklin County officials outlined major points of the 1972 wheat program announced by Jean J. Smith chairman of the county Stabilization and Conservation Committee. The plan sets an 83 percent set aside of the farm domestic allotment, allows substitution of feed grain for wheat, includes barley in the feed grain program, and imposes no wheat acreage limit for 1972. It preserves the 19.7 million acre wheat allotment and $1.17 loan rate for 1971. Loans and purchases remain available, and farmers can plant wheat barley or silage corn without losing planting history or benefits. Excess wheat stored under prior programs may be released if production is under three times the domestic allotment times the farm yield.

Idaho central committee to pursue unity with moderates
Idaho's Republican Central Committee remains strongly conservative. Mrs. Sinclair, 49, won the post by avoiding alienation of core conservatives, while factions led by Mrs. Barnett and Wilber face pressure to broaden inclusion. The party must rejoin moderates, re reorganize finances, and unite factions under Sinclair's leadership.
