Idaho County Auditors Meet for Two Day Convention
The Idaho Association of County Auditors convened in Oneida county host city for a two day session. About 20 more attendees were expected, with 40 local firms contributing favors and prizes. The program included welcome by Mayor Rulon Dunn, roundtables, NACO report, a social hour, banquet, and a schedule of sessions tomorrow morning through afternoon with officer elections at 2 PM.

215 4-H Clubbers Attend Summer Camp
Franklin county 4-H club members totaling 215 and 30 Oneida county 4-H members attended the seventh annual 4-H club camp at Camp Hunt held Monday Tuesday and Wednesday of last week. Activities included handicraft hayrack rides roller skating boat riding picnics and talent programs. The highlight was a state fish and game department sponsored boat ride supervised by Bear Lake county conservation officer Stan Fredrickson.

Local Cadets Train At Aberdeen Proving Ground
Cadets Renee Winward and Paul Larson from Preston and Utah State Agricultural College take part in the six week Army ordnance reserve officer training corps summer camp at Aberdeen Proving Ground Maryland. Of 817 college ROTC men from 45 states the District of Columbia and Hawaii they train in drill physical training and ordnance study. Closing ceremonies July 31 will send most seniors home to prepare for final year and potential active duty commissioning.

The Fairview ball club the lone Idaho entry in the Cache Valley league defeated Wellsville with a 67 6-? tally. Sy Melford Inglet coached at third base sending two men home on steals for two scores. Lyle Cole notched two triples. Bernard Inglet helped manage. Millar Attends 36th annual Poultry Convention in San Francisco
Ralph Millar of Millar Hatchery Preston arrives in San Francisco to serve as Idaho’s official delegate at the 36th annual American Poultry and Hatchery Federation convention. Moire Charters and Kerr oversee a four week ROTC training camp at Great Falls Montana starting June 23 for 188 cadets from 15 colleges and universities across the country. Canning Center Here Operating Half Days This Week
Franklin county canning center operates half days this week urging patrons to bring puddings pork and beans and chicken before noon. Center doors open at 8 am and no appointments past noon. Center runs at eight cents per can while Idaho canneries charge nine to ten cents. Officials hope to return to full time as demand increases. Patrons should pick up canned goods within 48 hours to avoid loss or storage congestion.

Franklin county fire crews battled three blazes this week. A granary on the Douglas Rose farm near Weston burned likely from hot hay chopper metal, causing 400 to 500 dollars in damage. The Bert Martin home garage was destroyed by an early Monday fire with unknown cause, about 400 dollars in damage. The George Wright Mapleton home roof fire from a faulty chimney damaged the building but spared a few records.
