Weston and Riverdale communities plan Pioneer Day festivities tomorrow with a Weston dance opening the 1953 celebration. A daylight salute precedes a 9:30 parade, 11 am address by John Longden, 1 pm Cornish vs Dayton baseball, and 3:30 pm vaudeville acts ending with an amateur show. Riverdale joins with a 11 am festival featuring a keynote speaker.

March of Dimes checks totaling 4700 have been received by the Franklin county chapter of the National Foundation for Infantile Paralysis to aid polio patients. She noted past shortages and predicted continued high polio incidence with gamma globulin in short supply and no vaccine yet, risking further national aid.

Lt Don C Atkinson formerly of Franklin received silver wings as an F 86 jet pilot in ceremonies at Foster Air Force Base Texas. He led Class 53 D of 114 jet pilots and is the son of Mr and Mrs Fred C Atkinson of Ogden. He traveled 10 days on furlough to visit relatives before reporting to Las Vegas for advanced jet training. The Atkinsons have two other sons in the Air Force.

The famous Preston night rodeo begins July 31 with shows July 31 and Aug 1 plus a concluding performance Aug 1. Children’s parade opens Wednesday evening at 7. Band concerts and school bands join parades. Family night offers reduced prices for children 12 and under.
