Grand Lodge Honor For Preston Mayor Rulon Dunn
Rulon Dunn of Preston, former exalted ruler of the local Elks lodge and longtime civic leader, is appointed district deputy of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks by Grand Exalted Ruler William J. Jernick. Dunn accepted via telegram and will oversee lodges in Idaho East, including Burley Pocatello Blackfoot Idaho Falls Salmon City and Preston, with an induction conference set for August 14 in Salt Lake City.

Teenagers Injured When Car Hits Pole Here Early Sunday
Three county teenagers were hospitalized all day Sunday for minor injuries after a car ran off a turn and struck a utility pole at Second South and State Streets. The occupants were Dayton resident 17 year old Chevy Balls and Weston residents 18 year old Clair Austin and 18 year old Bobbie White, who was driving the 1951 Ford owned by Austin. The vehicle sustained about 400 dollars in damage.

Burglars Steal Baling Twine From Palmer Motor Implement
Police report burglars broke into Palmer Motor Implement Co on North State Street between 8 and 10 30 p m Friday and took 50 bales of baling twine worth 385 dollars at 7 50 per bale. Cans of antifreeze and other goods were left untouched. Police Chief Harold Campbell confirms the theft and describes the method and value.

Automobiles Collide Near Weston Friday Afternoon
Two vehicles, a one and a half ton truck driven by Mrs. Jess Rasmussen of Weston and a 1949 Packard driven by Jesse Griffeth of Weston, collided at an intersection. Griffeth’s car struck the truck’s rear bumper causing it to spin. Rasmussen was leaving the oil road and turning south. Rasmussen’s son rode in the truck. Estimated damage $200.

Chairman Hyrum R. Nelson urges every eligible wheat grower in Franklin County to vote on a July referendum. If two thirds approve quotas for 1955, marketing penalties apply to excess wheat and price support remains. if not, no quotas or penalties and price parity at 50 percent. Local Truck and Car Collide at Busy Intersection
A 1954 Pinson Electric Co truck driven by Harold Pinson traveling south collided with a Buick valued about $100 headed west on First South Street near State Streets. Dale Jensen manager of the American Food store was fined 25 by Probate Judge W Paul Merrill after a suit by Don Greaves Central market and Sturton Smedley O P Skaggs store. The grocers alleged a 6 percent profit rule was violated by selling watermelons too cheaply. Attorney Robert Wennergren defended Jensen and the store.

Mrs W Paul Merrill of Preston won the nine hole flight by defeating Mable Evans of Logan one up in the Utah state golf tournament at Logan Golf and Country Club. She also took first for low putts in the nine hole flight and received two first place awards at a Friday luncheon. Participants came from Salt Lake Logan Ogden and Brigham City.
