Tax Sale Here Stated Aug 28 in Franklin County
Franklin county lists thirty two parcels for public tax sale at the courthouse on Saturday August 28 at 10 00 am. Parcels are named by assessed taxpayers and described in the Citizen. High bidder cash sale funds go to county tax funds. The sale is usually biennial and this year is among the smallest in two decades due to property prosperity. Tax deeds cover parcels delinquent four years and the notice will run in six issues of the Citizen before sale becomes legal notice.

Celebrating The 24th At Riverdale Ward
Riverdale plans a July 24 celebration with events from Friday night to 1:00 a m. Merlin Smith Orchestra will headline the finale. Tag Day Set By Legion Auxiliary
The American Legion Auxiliary of Post 84 with War Savings and National Auxiliary will stage a Tag Day in Preston on Saturday August 7 honoring Molly Pitcher of the 1778 Monmouth battle. Modern Molly Pitcher will hand out bond stamps and water-like pitchers, giving a flag to buyers. Mrs Mel Reeves has returned to Preston to join her husband Capt Reeves with the Army Police near the Mexican border. the Reeves previously lived in Prescott Arizona.

The 1943 Preston rodeo queen contest will name the winner Tuesday evening at 8 p m at the Preston rodeo grounds. Judges Chub Lundberg and two others will pick the queen from entrants showing horsemanship showmanship poise and personality. Deadline is Friday night July 23 with entries due mounted and in western attire. Many contestants expected from Franklin Weston Clifton Mink Creek and surrounding communities. Any girl may enter without a sponsor.

Fierce Brahmas Set to Roar at Preston Big Night Rodeo

Local car owners rush to file for new A books
Nearly a thousand Franklin county car owners had not filed by Wednesday for the new A books replacing the old A books which expired July 21. Only 1304 of about 2300 passenger cars had applied. books will be issued by mail after tire inspection certificates and old book backs are provided. Truck books for gas run July 1 to October 30, with 542 of about 600 trucks already issued.

Large Franklin pea crop nears completion at California Packing plant

Burial for Eli Forsgren Set for Thursday
Eli Forsgren 80 died Monday at his home from a paralytic stroke suffered while visiting his daughter Mrs Anna F Palmer. Born June 17 1863 in Brigham City Utah he helped with fruit growing and a silk worm colony his mother spun silk cloth. He married Francis Mary Smith in 1885 and lived in Riverdale Preston and Riverdale where he supported dances and taught ward functions. He donated to the Riverdale chapel and his wife preceded him in death.

Tragedy at Island Park Lake Claims Eight Drownings This Year
Thelma Heath Standen of this city died in the Island Park lake accident along with her five year old daughter Sandra. Her sister was Sister Is Drowned One and another wife of Lieutenant William G Standen also perished. Two additional women died in the same incident bringing Island Park drownings to eight for the year.
