The board also discussed sponsoring the Preston Melodians and reviewed progress on state aid for the Preston Treasureton road oiling.

Fire Destroys Barn and Hay on Hollingsworth Farm
A large barn and 12 tons of hay were destroyed by fire on the Earl Hollingsworth farm north of Preston on Wednesday evening. The Preston Fire Department extinguished the blaze before it reached the farm home. Damaged were the barn, several machine sheds and a granary. No livestock harmed. Insurance covers the loss. Hollingsworth family notified while in Pasco on a government job.

The Franklin county canning center opened to the public this week for processing peas and vegetables. In the first days, more than 3 513 cans were produced. Road To Grace Traffic Route Awaits State Aid Action
Prospects for state aid on the Preston Treasureton road brighten as the state highway planning commission approved oiling eight miles between Preston and Treasureton flats. Albert Roth of Providence Utah was fined 25 dollars and costs for violating fish and game laws by fishing in closed waters without a license.
