40th Annual Famous Preston Night Rodeo Planned

Preston prepares for its 40th annual Famous Preston Night Rodeo set for July 31 and August 12. The event, produced by D A Swanney Kerby, will feature top specialty acts and top cowboys competing for a purse near ten thousand dollars. Miss Rodeo America Connie Della Lucia Ogden will appear, and rodeo royalty Diane Bassett Julee Jensen and Laurie Udy will lead the parade nights. This marks 40 years since the idea of a night rodeo was conceived by Preston Chamber of Commerce and city officials, the first in the area.

Swim program resumes after councilman halt in C Ity pool

Preston City Councilman Mike Lower closed then reopened the Neilsen Gym pool within hours amid health official concerns about water safety. The夏 recreation program will continue Wednesday through Friday under close supervision with a Friday swim meet still on schedule.

Sprinkling Hours Enforce in Preston City

Mayor Lyle Shipley warns Preston residents sprinkling hours go into effect with fines 2.50 for first violation and 5 for subsequent. City employees will routinely check neighborhoods and issue citations starting today. A notice will appear in The Citizen for clipping and reference.

Site Manager Sought for Franklin County Senior Center

The Franklin County Senior Citizens board seeks a site manager for its new Center. Applications are taken by Don Hess at the Courthouse Wednesdays to Fridays 9 am to noon and 1 to 4 pm. Also notes Senior Citizen Night at the 40th annual Preston Night Rodeo on Friday August 1 with advance half-price tickets for members at the Chamber of Commerce office.

Preston Council Reviews Parks and Water Violations

Preston City Council discussed parks recreation zoning violations and the wastewater treatment system at a Monday meeting. Topics included water shutoffs for a rental complex, a sprinkler pipe operation without permits, recreation program funding and staffing, park facilities, and arbitration on a former engineer's fee.
