Two Preston youths, Allen Fryer 19 and Reginald J Harmer 18, have enlisted at the Los Angeles recruiting office and begun 12 weeks of intensive basic training at the U S Coast Guard Receiving Center in Alameda California. Fryer, son of Mr and Mrs William Fryer of 2215 South First East, was a Preston High School cheerleader and local manager. Elizabeth Jane Clements Williams dies in Provo Utah
Elizabeth Jane Clements Williams 81 died Monday in Provo Utah after a lingering illness. Funeral services are set for Saturday. She was born December 4 1870 at Stockton Creek later Swan Lake moved to Oxford married Charles Williams Jr November 11 1886 in the Logan temple. A longtime Treasureton resident she served as society president and worked as a practical nurse during the influenza epidemic. She later remarried Sam Ton moving to several towns before settling in Provo. She was the mother of nine eight surviving and listed eight grandchildren and siblings. Burial will be in Treasureton cemetery with visitation at Webb Funeral Home before services.

Dayton Man 35 Dies in Accidental Gunshot
Vern Thomas Mickelson a Dayton carpenter aged 35 died Sunday afternoon of a gunshot wound to the head. Sheriff Lee Hansen said the wound was accidentally inflicted as Mickelson started to exit the car door on a county road near Dayton depot. He had borrowed the rifle earlier to hunt rabbits and lived his life in Dayton.
