Training Sessions Held for Franklin Benson Boy Scouts
Scouters from Franklin county and Benson districts attend the annual University of Scouting, held over four Monday nights in Preston. W H Simmons leads the training committee with a staff of scouters from both districts. Training covers basic scout master, explorer advisor, and advanced leader courses. Andrea Gundesen Dies at 90 After Two Day Illness
Andrea Georgina Hansen Gundesen, 90, native of Denmark, died at the Preston home after a two day illness. Born January 25, 1861 in Denmark, she married Jessie Gundesen in 1886 and moved to the United States in 1896 settling in Preston. She was active in L D S church work and Relief Society. Survived by two sons.

Finance Drive For Boy Scouts Set For Feb 13
The annual Franklin County finance drive for the Boy Scouts will be held on February 13 to align with National Boy Scout Week February 6 through 12. The drive aims to raise about $5,000 locally as part of a regional budget near $25,000 for 2,500 registered scouts in Cache Valley. Dr. David Cutler chairs the Franklin County district with A. G. Carlson and W. Paul Merrill as vice chairmen and Herman Richards as finance chairman. Committees are forming to appoint community chairmen with Mark Checketts and William A. Davis as co chairs for local areas including Preston Stewart Geddeson on the north side and Fielding Widward on the south side.

Preston defeated the Downey Bulldogs 61 to 47 in a hard fought game on the Preston floor. Five or six points separated the teams for most of the contest until the Indians warmed up in the closing minutes. Coach Evan Sorenson trusted Crawford Davis Condie Herzog and Keller throughout the game with Crawford and Davis as top scorers.
